- Substantive law
The CPD year runs from 1 April to 31 March the following year
The NSW practising certificate year is from 1 July to 30 June the following year
Solicitors are required to complete ten (10) CPD units each year. Out of the ten (10) units solicitors must complete at least one (1) CPD unit every year in each of the following compulsory fields:
- Ethics and professional responsibility
- Practice management and business skills
- Professional skills
- Substantive law
The CPD year runs from 1 April to 31 March the following year
The Victorian practising certificate year is from 1 July to 30 June the following year

The ACT practising certificate year is from 1 July to 30 June the following year
Solicitors are required to complete ten (10) CPD units each year. Out of the ten (10) units solicitors must complete at least one (1) CPD unit every year in each of the following compulsory fields:
- Professional Ethics and Responsibility;
- Practice Management and Business Skills;
- Professional Skills in Legal Practice.
- Substantive Law
The CPD year runs from 1 April to 31 March the following year
The NT practising certificate year is from 1 July to 30 June the following year
Solicitors are required to complete ten (10) CPD units each year. Out of the ten (10) units solicitors must complete at least one (1) CPD unit every year in each of the following compulsory fields:
- practical legal ethics;
- practice management or business skills;
- professional skills;
- bullying, discrimination and harassment.
The CPD year runs from 1 April to 31 March the following year
The South Australia practising certificate year is from 1 July to 30 June the following year.
Solicitors are required to complete ten (10) CPD units each year. Out of the ten (10) units solicitors must complete at least one (1) CPD unit every year in each of the following compulsory fields:
- practical legal ethics;
- practice management or business skills
- Professional skills
- Substantive law
- equality and wellbeing.
The CPD year runs from 1 May to 30 April the following year
The Tasmania practising certificate year is from 1 July to 30 June the following year
